The Torah is likely the most useful source because it was passed down orally from ancient times and then written down. Possible answers: 2. 1950 B.C.E.: Abraham, the ancestor of the Jews, migrated with his family from Ur in Mesopotamia to Canaan. 1800 B.C.E.: Many Israelites fled from Canaan to Egypt because of famine. 1000 B.C.E.: After escaping from Egypt and wandering in the desert, the Israelites settled in Canaan and set up the kingdom of Israel. 1.
