Senior Research/Staff Scientist in Protein Biochemistry & Molecular Biology
Summary
ARIAD Pharmaceuticals Inc is seeking an independent and highly motivated scientist with a
strong background in molecular biology, protein biochemistry and structural chemistry to join
our pre-clinical small molecule oncology drug discovery team. The successful candidate will
play a key role in expanding ARIAD’s capability and platform in structure-based drug design and
will join an interdisciplinary research group encompassing biochemical assay, structural
chemistry (X-ray and NMR), computational chemistry and cheminformatics to support our
internal drug discovery efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities





Design and make protein expression constructs in various protein expressing systems
Grow cells in large scale (baculovirus, insect and bacteria) to express protein
Purify protein to support biochemical and biophysical studies and structural chemistry
(crystallography and NMR)
Characterize purified protein, protein-protein and protein:inhibitor complexes
Participate in design and optimization of novel enzymatic and biophysical assays.
Experience and Requirement





Ph.D. with at least 3 years of academic or industrial experience
Experience in protein expression in bacteria and baculovirus/insect cells
Experience in protein purification and characterization
Additional knowledge and experience in structural biology, enzymology and biophysical
assays e.g. SPR are welcome
Good communication and teamwork skills
