Job Description
Main Purpose of the Post
To manage and deliver a high quality, distinctive and effective profile for The Arches
through the planning and coordination of marketing campaigns for the events
programme and other facilities in The Arches. A distinctive part of this role is
executing the press, advertising and social media campaigns for the Theatre
Programme.
Main Duties of the Post
(1) To deliver a comprehensive and effective marketing strategy for The Arches
Theatre Programme
This will involve:
devising and implementing press, print, social media and advertising
campaigns for The Arches in-house theatre festivals and other arts events;
identifying relevant local and national media, suitable for coverage of the
programme;
developing strong working relationships with the local, national and specialist
media;
pitching, following up and co-ordinating interviews, features, reviews,
competitions and promotional activity;
arranging photo-calls, press launches and other media opportunities for major
arts events;
issuing arts listings to the relevant media and listings websites;
archiving press cuttings and preparing press packs for the Arts Team;
regularly circulating to staff any key press coverage obtained throughout the
season, and displaying it for promotional purposes within the building;
sourcing and occasionally commissioning photographs for press and listings
use;
writing engaging arts event copy for the Arches website and print campaigns;
collaborating with other venues, festivals and co-producing partners on
Arches off-site and productions;
creating interesting posts and dialogues on The Arches’ arts related online
social networks (Facebook, Twitter, blogs, forums, etc);
using social media and other online advertising where appropriate;
updating the arts and general venue content on The Arches website;
creating arts e-marketing campaigns in conjunction with the Designer;
meeting regularly with the Arts Team to discuss specific promotional
campaigns for events;
briefing the Designer for all arts event campaigns and proofing all design
work;
liaising with press and print advertising sales associates, negotiating excellent
rates, booking media space and monitoring its success;
liaising with visiting companies to ensure the success of their own marketing
campaigns;

In conjunction with the Executive Director and Finance Manager, devising and
managing the annual Media and Marketing budgets and being responsible for
monitoring expenditure and income on a regular basis.
(3) To manage the Marketing Team and in conjunction with the Executive and
Artistic Directors oversee the Arches overall marketing strategy
This will involve:
line managing the Box Office Manager in conjunction with the Executive
Director;
line managing the Music Programme Marketer, who is responsible for the
delivery of the clubs and live music marketing strategy;
line managing the part-time graphic Designer;
hosting and chairing regular team meetings with other departments;
ensuring the Arches brand is maintained in all forms of communication;
to develop and ensure the Arches website remains up to date and user
friendly;
keeping up to date with developments in new media and technology, as well
as all marketing sectors, to help advise the company’s future marketing
strategy and maintain its high profile within the arts and cultural sector;
ensuring that the audience development strategy of the Arches is relevant to
its arts forms and to its public, devising and implementing initiatives to
maximise audiences;
initiating and supervising audience research strategies (via surveys and Box
Office data) and to determine campaign success levels and gain valuable
statistics for reports and funding applications;
collaborating with the Arts Team in the preparation of funding applications and
evaluation reports;
reporting on marketing activity and successes to the Arts Team and Executive
Director;
to deliver an effective marketing strategy for the Arches Café Bar &
Restaurant. This will involve similar tasks to (1) only on a reduced level and
working in conjunction with the Cafe Bar Manager and team;
collaborate with the Cafe Bar and Arts teams to create and promote exciting
themed events and ‘makeovers’ for our bars and restaurant.

Designer to produce relevant marketing materials.
(4) To make an active contribution to the day-to-day operation of The Arches.
This will involve:
attending and making an active contribution to regular Arches team meetings;
attending training courses as required, in consultation with the Executive
Director;
in conjunction with the Executive and Artistic Directors, handling any crisis
management press;

Hours Worked
This is a full time post working on average 40 hours a week. Where additional hours
are incurred these will be taken as time off in lieu by agreement with the Executive
Director.

Salary
£23,000 - £28,000 gross per annum. Overtime is not applicable to this post.
