Position Description TITLE: DEPARTMENT: CLASSIFICATION: SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:No REPORTS TO: LOCATION: Marketing Specialist External Affairs Full-time, exempt Director of Marketing & Communications Washington, DC Job Summary: The position of Marketing Specialist at United Cerebral Palsy will be a part of the Marketing and Communications Department in External Affairs and report directly to the Director of Marketing and Communications. The position will afford the candidate the opportunity to utilize their communications skills to strengthen UCP’s public presence through social media, newsletters, marketing collateral materials and other channels to raise awareness of UCP’s mission and national work. The Marketing Specialist will work closely with the Marketing and Communications, PEO, LifeLabs and Development departments to effectively convey UCP’s mission of providing a life without limits for people with a spectrum of disabilities at UCP’s National headquarters in Washington, D.C. Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Identifies opportunities for, develops and implements marketing and advertising campaigns across platforms Tracks and analyzes audience data Communicates with vendors and freelancers to execute graphic design and print production projects (negotiating bids, communicating specifications, evaluating and approving products) Assists Director in and acts as a liaison with other departments in assessing needs for and executing marketing projects Assists Director in writing, editing, formatting and distributing emails and newsletter promotions. May tackle low-level graphic design such as manipulating images. Monitors social channels, identifying opportunities for engagement and audience growth via existing and new platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Tumblr, Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube...) Exercises excellent news judgment in cultivating content for social media, blog, newsletter and other channels Assists Director in identifying and building relationships with journalists, bloggers and social influencers Monitors media and keeps appropriate UCP staff members apprised of relevant news Assists Director with writing and distributing press releases and blog posts Learns and understands UCP’s voice, brand, audience and position on issues in the disability community. Ability to communicate organizational messages to diverse audiences in keeping with brand and voice Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in communications, marketing or related field 1-2 years of experience in communications, marketing or related field Experience working under tight deadlines and across organizational structures Excellent organizational and prioritization skills Ability to thrive under pressure and deliver products and services in a timely manner Commitment to advocating for a life without limits for people with disabilities Well-developed interpersonal skills and sense of humor Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, basic HTML and CMS platforms desired but not required Interest in photography and/or videography a plus, but not required Working Conditions: This position description does not include a comprehensive listing of activities, duties and responsibilities of the incumbent.
