Overall aims
 To assist in the setting, monitoring and achievement of marketing
objectives for RCNi.
 To maintain a strong reader focus in the quality of promotional
content and customer communication.
 To establish and maintain a high profile for RCNi products within the
nursing profession and RCN membership.
 To strengthen the relationship between the business unit and the
wider RCN.
Specific Aims
1. To assist in the setting, monitoring and achievement of marketing
objectives for RCNi.
 Take project management responsibilities for specific product portfolio as
allocated by the Head of Marketing.
 To manage ad hoc projects in order to support other members of the team
as required by the Head of Marketing.
 Develop and implement branding initiatives for journals, events and
websites individually and corporately.
 Make recommendations for budget expenditure in relation to portfolio, and
monitor against agreed budgets adopting a culture of ‘cost awareness’ to
ensure direct costs are effectively controlled and monitored.
 Maintain effective systems for reporting circulation performance through
revenue, circulation reports and quarterly reviews.

 Maintain effective systems for circulation development and subscription
retention.
 Maintain a strong focus on circulation by attending team meetings and
meeting department priorities.
2. To maintain a strong reader focus in the quality of promotional
content and customer communication.
 Work with in-house designers to create high quality promotional literature
for RCNi products and services.
 Undertake qualitative and quantitative market research to monitor market
perception and to inform journal and promotional content, analysing and
sharing data with relevant stakeholders.
 Ensure that the highest quality promotional materials are produced by the
marketing department in keeping with the quality of the products.
 To assist the Product Marketing Specialist on specific projects where
appropriate.
3. To establish and maintain a high profile for RCNi products within the
nursing profession and RCN membership.
 Liaise with Membership department on improving communications with
contacts held on the database.
 Ensure strong and consistent branding on all products and promotions
within portfolio.
 Work with publication editors to identify appropriate events to maintain high
profile presence.
4. To strengthen the relationship between the business unit and the
wider RCN.
 Maintain regular communications between RCNi and the RCN’s events,
sponsorship and marketing officers and to establish effective partnerships
with them.
 Strengthen links with the membership groups, RCN entities within boards,
regions and other divisions of the RCN.
 Ensure effective communication and understanding between RCNi and the
Membership department and build on links to continuously improve reader
communication.
 Work collaboratively with the other RCN departments on corporate and
joint projects as necessary.
Journal Responsibilities

To meet subscription and circulation targets, raise the product profile,
decrease the cancellation rate and improve the quality of marketing
promotions for RCNi journals, related events and websites.

Product responsibilities:

To develop acquisition and retention strategies for a portfolio of products,
to meet circulation targets, raise the product profile and improve
effectiveness of marketing promotions for the portfolio.
Project Responsibilities

To meet marketing objectives for key events and specific projects through
planning and implementation of integrated marketing campaigns. To
assist the Product Marketing Specialist on specific projects as directed by
the Head of Marketing.
Team Responsibilities

To work within the team under supervision of the Product Marketing
Specialist. To liaise with the Product Marketing Specialist on a day to day
basis and ensure all work is passed to the Product Marketing Specialist for
approval as appropriate.
Other




To attend exhibitions and conferences as agreed, which may require travel
and overnight stays.
To undertake an element of administrative work as directed by the Head of
Marketing as appropriate.
To undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade of the post as
directed by the Head of Marketing.
