Study Guide Periodic Table of Elements Test Friday November 21st Multiple choice and open ended questions covering information seen in our classroom notes and activities Power Points to study include: Historic Atomic Structures and Parts of an Atom Introduction to The Periodic table, Metals, Nonmetals and metalloids, Periodic table families You need to know: 1. The scientists responsible for developing and arranging the periodic table and how they arranged it. 2. Difference between a period and group on the periodic table 3. Can you locate an element if given the period and group number? 4. Where metals, non metals and metalloids are found and identify the characteristics of each. 5. What are the different families of the periodic table, where are they located, and some characteristics of each family? Why are elements grouped into families? 6. How has our model of the atom changed? 7. What scientists have contributed to our model of the atom? What did each scientist add/change on the atomic model? 8. What are the three subatomic particles of the atom, their charges, their relative sizes, and their locations? 9. Be able to determine the number of protons, neutrons and electrons of an atom 10. Know how to read an element block and be able to draw a diagram with the correct number of protons, neutrons, and electrons. (see below) 11. Know all definitions of vocabulary presented on this unit.
