Job Summary & Person Specification Job Title: Marketing Assistant Job Ref No: HCC1795334 Department: Culture, Communities and Business Services Branch / Section: Marketing Grade: D Job Purpose: Support the Senior Marketing Executives with the production of promotional material and advertising revenue schemes to ensure the effective promotion of Hampshire County Council Culture, Communities and Business Services (CCBS) areas including Countryside, Libraries and Outdoor Service. Main Responsibilities: • Support Senior Marketing Executives to formulate, develop, implement and evaluate marketing strategies for CCBS Services as required. • Provide marketing support to CCBS sites and Services as required, to ensure marketing at local level is targeted effectively towards increasing and broadening participation and generating increased income. • Advise and assist Officers and partners on the use of appropriate marketing tactics for target audiences, including campaign tracking, to ensure that specific marketing campaigns achieve maximum impact and are cost effective. Marketing Materials: • Significantly contribute toward the layout, design and publication of marketing materials, as directed by Senior Marketing Executives including copy writing, editing and proof reading. • Develop appropriate content for a variety of other marketing channels, specifically digital channels, to communicate to customers. • Update a variety of social media accounts, utilising both communications, PR and marketing expertise for the successful delivery of campaigns. Page 1 of 4 Income Generation • Provide marketing support as directed by senior marketing executives to CCBS sites and Services as required, to ensure marketing at local level is targeted effectively towards increasing and broadening participation and generating increased income. • Respond to reactive requests from sites to produce marketing materials for smaller scale events and initiatives in order to drive ticket sales/attendance. Responsibility for producing copy and sourcing imagery and briefing in house design team to produce the necessary materials. General Support: • Assist with the organising of exhibitions and events. • Contribute to the success of CCBS’s marketing requirements by taking a flexible approach and by covering other roles when necessary. Page 2 of 4 Person Specification: Essential Qualifications • Experience working within a marketing environment or relevant qualification Desirable Qualifications • N/A Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience • Excellent organisational skills, able to prioritise work under pressure and maintain accuracy while meeting strict deadlines • Evidence of ability to work to and meet, tight deadlines • Awareness of the use of technology relating to internal and external communications and marketing • Ability to fulfil travel requirements of the role • Proof reading skills/eye for detail • Good communication skills • Ability to work on own initiative • Confidence, tact and diplomacy when dealing with customers, marketing agencies, suppliers and staff at all levels • Flexibility to meet workload commitments/deadlines and to respond quickly to meet urgent demands for communications in a crisis • Experience in a marketing, PR or communications environment • Experience in working with digital marketing channels • An understanding of social media and its use in marketing Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experience Working Conditions: The following section provides an outline of the working conditions that may be encountered in this role.
