The heart muscles become enlarged.
 The walls of the heart thicken, which
prevents the heart from functioning properly.


Breathlessness with exertion or even at rest.
Swelling of the legs, ankles, and feet.
Bloating of the abdomen due to fluid build up.
Fatigue, dizziness, lightheaded, and fainting.
Irregular heart beats that feel rapid.
S&S varies depending on how the disease
progresses.
Could also result in congestive heart failure.
The heart muscles can enlarge when
being strained either by heart valves that
don’t function properly or by high blood
pressure.
 This will make the heart walls thicken
and beat stronger but it can obstruct
blood flow.


Doctors will use
Echocardiograms,
Cardiac
Catheterization and
genetic tests.
