1.14 Oxygen sensor heater control signal analysis
1.14.1 Introduction of oxygen sensor control and principle
About
sensor
Oxygen sensor heater is a heater to heat up the tip
of oxygen sensor. Since oxygen sensor activate
when the sensor temperature is over 370degC,
heater is needed to prevent delay of signal at low
exhaust gas temperature.
Sensor type
There are oxygen sensor without
heater too. Oxygen sensor without
heater is used to reduce the cost.
Algorithm
In order to prevent sensor
over-heating, heater control is
stopped at high exhaust gas
temperature area. In case of
engine start, sensor might be
cracked by heating due to
water on the sensor.
Therefore, heating is start
after water is evaporated
