［ Abstract ］
Objective This research tries to compare the effects of Cimetidine,Omeprazole and
Bromcriptine on duodenal ulcer.
Methods Divide the rats into four groups: blank control group, Cimetidine
group, Omeprazole group and the Bromcriptine group, the found duodenal ulcer models by cysteamine .Detect the
duodenum one day after the treatment and compare the density of damage.
Results All of Cimetidine,
Omepradole, and Bromcriptine have a certain effect on duodenal ulcer, but they don’t have statistically significant
difference.
Conclusions Bromcriptine has a similar effect on duodenal ulcer with the traditional anti-ulcer drugs.

Preface
Duodenum ulcer is a common disease which is caused by the imbalance between the defensive function of
gastrointestinal tract and various attacking factors. The common drugs used to treat it include histamine H2
receptor antagonist, e.g.proton pump inhibitor,M1 receptor antagonist e.g.Omeprazole prostate-like drug. Recent
studies show that DA receptor agonists also help to treat the ulcer. This experiment uses different drugs of different
mechanism to study the different effects of these drugs on the ulcer.

Materials and Methods
2.1 Materials
Subject: 32 white adult rats (half male and half female, weight unlimited)
Equipment and drug :a series of operation apparatus ,syringe(1ml) ,scales ,breakers ,operation microscope ,
Cimetidine
prepared
for
injecting(produced
by
Zhongshan
Sancai
Medical
Corporation
,
(raificationnumber:605265) , Bromeriptime (codeN2228800CINA/50152scc0999) , Omeprazole (produced by
Foshan Kangbao Rharmaceutical factory) , cysteamine ,5%glucose.
Methods
Divides the white rats into four groups randomly
(A) Glucosegroup: 8 white rats, inject 0.3ml 5% glucose into the muscle. One hour later, inject 10% glucose
into subcutaneous of abdomen according to the standard of 28mg/100g weight.24 hours later, kill the
rats and get the duodenums out.Determine the workpoints according to the damaged degrees of the
mucous membranes
(B) Bromeriptine group: 8 white rats, 5mg bromeriptine dissolving in distilled water formed the solution of
0.25mg/ml in concentration; pump it into the gastric of the white rats. An hour later, inject locution to
the white rats with the dosage of 28mg/100g weight. Kill and dissect them after 24 hours; observe and
determine workpoints.
(C) Cimetidine group: the method of this group is the same with (B)
(D) Omeprazole group: the method of this group is the same with (B)

Discussion
Duodenum ulcer is caused by disturbance of the balance between the mucous defense function and
attachment caused by many reasons. Now the clinical treatments usually use two kinds of medicines: the H2
receptor antagonist and the proton pump inhibitor. Being the H2 receptor antagonist,Cimetidine can compete the
H2receptors with histamine.Thereby,it can block the histamine’s function of promoting the secretion of gastric acid.
Being the proton pump inhibitor, Omeprazole can block the last step of secreting gastric acid, so it also have the
effect of blocking the secretion of gastric acid.Recently, some research shows that bromcriptine which belongs to
the DA2 receptor agonist, has the possibility to protect the duodenum mucous membrane through the dopaminme
system and achieve the aim of curing the ulcer.
4.2
The side effect of Cimetidine is minor in ordinary dose, but in long term or super ordinary dose, the patients
of advanced age or having disorder in other organs as complication will suffer from a lot of side
effects.Bromcriptine has a lot of side effects, such as nausea, vomit diarrhea,constipation,rash,disorderof internal
secretion, quire hypertension, headache, insomnia. But it can prevent recurrence which has been proved by some
experiments.Omeprazole is only used for short term therapy and can’t prevent recurrence. Now we can see that the
three drugs are not perfect. It’s suggested to get the best effect by combining several drugs in a proper way and
ower their side effects at the same time, or choose suitable drug according to difference reactions of difference
patients.

Conclusions
In our experiment, Bromcriptine proves to have a similar effect on ulceration to the common anti-ulcer
drug.However, gastric ulcer has long been a contraindication to Bromcriptine while no define evidence was given
by any researches available.Therefore, more researches are needed before we can find out if Bromcriptine and
drugs of the same type are fit for treatment of ulceration, and, what kind of ulceration it is if they are. And these
reseaches will probably help with a better clarification of mechanisms for anti-ulcer, or even more, development of
new drugs.
