CCP Meeting
June 8, 2009
In Attendance:
Pat McLeod
Bruce Munsell
Nicole Meinhardt
Tim Schlegel
Karen O’Leary
Tim Tedrick
Meeting called to order by Tim at 5:30
Financial Report – Nicole
Who Didn’t was the only profitable play of the season.
It’s a Wonderful Life lost $980
Art/Eleemosynary lost $1,400
Current bank balance is $3,551.33, down $1,917.84 from last year
Primary expense is advertising, and is not yielding much, if any, increase in attendance.
Pat had almost no success selling program ads
Pat would like to write Letter to Editor commenting on our local talent and asking why people aren’t
showing up.
Musicals are more expensive than straight plays
Review of People – Tim T.
Performers: It is a struggle to finding enough men and people in general to perform in the shows
Directors: Tim and Bruce are the only ones currently willing to direct.
There is currently no music director. There was discussion of using CD’s instead, but that adds
complication if performers forget the lines.
Technical: Contributors for the past season included Chuck Price, Jim Henry, Karen O’Leary, Nicole
Meinhardt, Bruce Munsell and Brad Zacharski
Administrative: Contributors include Pat McLeod, Karen O’Leary, Nicole Meinhardt, Bruce Munsell,
Tim Schlegel and Tim Tedrick
Review of Venues – Tim T.
The hope for this season was that moving to Woodlawn will still generate audiences of 100, but in a better
environment than the auditorium. The consensus of the meeting was that the move did not cause the
decrease in audience size. More likely it was the lack of show recognition and the loss of season ticket
sales that were included with the high school shows. Also, separating from the high school caused loss of
some advertising
Upcoming Season – Everyone
Discussion of marketing as opposed to advertising: Ideas discussed included taking the show on the road
and performing at nursing homes, wine shops, bookstores, Sauk Valley Chamber of Commerce, etc. Tim
S. suggested handing out postcards advertising the shows that include a coupon for $1 off a ticket or buy
one, get one half price. We discussed offering group rates, putting fliers around instead of newspaper
advertising, a mailing, and advertising on The Weather Channel. Pat has been attending local events and
marketing the organization.
Tim T. suggested CCP become a club with membership fees. Performances would be for fun instead of
profit.
Shows: Plan is to make a yearly tradition of It’s a Wonderful Life, teaming with Sights and Sounds.
Changes proposed include doing a Friday night performance somewhere downtown after the parade at a
lower price, like $5, and adding more performers, including children.
Murder Mystery Dinner: the one in 2008 was a big success for attendance, but ticket price would have to
be higher to cover catering. Arthur’s catering is only $8 a person. Bruce suggested Stages of Death, which
has four male roles, three female roles, and a couple of extra roles that could be either gender.
Spring show: Proposed ideas include Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolf? (two male roles, two female roles)
and Arsenic and Old Lace. Arsenic would be harder since there are many characters in it.
Season tickets discussed as a way to increase upfront revenue.
The next meeting is scheduled for June 29, 5:30 PM
Meeting adjourned at 6:47
