The invasion of northern Europe by the Huns caused an influx of invading Germanic Tribes into Rome and other parts of the Western Empire. Rome was unable to defend itself due to its decreased military power because of the influence of Christianity and the lack of involvement of Roman citizens. This, along with the movement of the capital and the wealthy class to the East caused the western Roman economy to decrease.
