Director of E-Commerce JOB DESCRIPTION The Director of E-Commerce will be a key player in the business; overseeing the day-to-day operations and analytics for the E-Commerce site; all related digital media, the mobile platform; and other related technologies. The director has primary responsibility for the E-Commerce site and is responsible for implementing and contributing to the strategic plan, while improving the user experience. They are responsible for the execution and analysis of our email marketing, the affiliate program, the net marketplaces, and mobile strategies, PPC, SEO, display ads, social media and other web based marketing programs. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Marketing, this person will also interface closely with the Chief Executive Officer and the Senior Executive, who is the owner of the company, in a highly collaborative and demanding ECommerce environment that is rapidly scaling. They will also partner with IT, Operations, Business Process, Creative, Merchandising and Inventory Planning in driving and beating business goals. OVERVIEW This position will drive E-Commerce growth (from beginning to end); it will help develop strategy, and oversee and participate with the implementation and execution of that strategy. This position will develop and maintain vendor relations (including Vendor Contract maintenance). It will collaborate with IT and Business Process on the portfolio of marketing and technology programs that will support the strategic plan. This position will participate with the creation and prioritization of the ecommerce strategic roadmap. It will develop ecommerce analytics and use those analytics to identify trends, fill gaps in the customer experience and use as input to refine our strategic direction. This position is responsible to manage, oversee and improve the daily E-Commerce business process. It will constantly strive to improve the productivity and efficiency of the department. This position is responsible for coordinating daily maintenance activities within the department as well as managing the interdepartmental efficiencies. Team development is an important facet of this role. LEADERSHIP Serve as subject matter expert overseeing all aspects of our website and e-Commerce marketing Serve as a team mentor for all members of the departments. Build and lead a high-performing team of experts in e-Marketing. Hire, coach, and manage the technology and business team members and communicate issues and progress to management as needed. Align staff according to skill set and experience to support delivery team goals Be the process advocate for the E-Commerce department and implement process change designed to enable the scaling of the business while collaborating with all facets of the business to assure that recommended changes promote efficiencies and excellence Partner with SVP of Marketing, CEO and SEO on marketing and merchandising initiatives Manage the process of the team and find more efficient solutions for working together Establish and ensure the integrity of traffic and conversion reporting using Google Analytics and other tools Drive forward strategies and tactics of our e-commerce roadmap Provide clear and concise communication of new project status to executive management ANALYTICS & MARKETING Manage the analytical process and deliver timely, insightful and actionable analyses in support of ecommerce marketing and ecommerce merchandising, Ensure that site tagging for Google Analytics and other programs is implemented so that all appropriate measurements can be gathered Work to optimize feeds to support marketplaces, paid search, CSE's, personalization campaigns and other marketing programs Develop the team to use analytics that are fully developed to understand bottom line impacts (P&L) Develop reports (optimizing Google Analytics) reviewing results of website activity Implement operational benchmarks while utilizing analytics and competitive analysis to achieve the highest standard of experience Design, implement and report on data driven metrics & analytics for managing and benchmarking the operation measured against the business objectives Conduct funnel analysis and recommend site improvements/efficiencies Ensure metrics are in place to monitor and measure software development projects, ongoing support & maintenance activities and KPIs for outsourced functions and services. Identify and implement analytics that may support tracking of business strategy. Create a promotional calendar of events to drive traffic to all digital channels and execute these events; Work with email marketing manager, paid digital media manager, content (SEO) manager to ensure innovative and effective deliveries Establish internal SEO/SEM/retargeting strategies and goals to measure the advancement and results over time Lead the development, implementation and execution of all e-commerce strategies with focus on driving website conversions PRODUCTION Be the central point-of-contact for operational issues that escalate on a daily basis, drive solutions and improve processes to increase efficiencies Make recommendations and implement site product improvements including feature enhancements, portal development, page load efficiency etc. Run daily meetings within E-department Process Minded: Evolve processes to ensure accurate delivery while maintaining the agility of the ecommerce platform. Determine, based on multiple factors within the organization, which process should be maintained or altered based on changing business conditions. VENDOR RELATIONS Oversee the management of third party digital marketing vendors Own and manage e-Commerce vendors' contracts to completion Partner with new e-business partners to ensure company goals are being executed. Work with our business partners to deploy new digital products to support our growth plans DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE KEY ATTRIBUTES Understanding of the internet protocols and how the internet works from a technical and a business perspective 10-15 years of experience in internet marketing specifically with E-Commerce 10+ years’ experience working with multiple ecommerce marketing channels and working to grow and develop those channels. 5+ years’ experience with B-2-C, consumer products in e-Commerce 8-10 years’ experience working with contract management specifically for ecommerce Familiarity with financials and budgeting Strong analytical skills and a pattern of fact-based decision making Will be located or willing to relocate to Chicago area Knowledge of the Collections etc. brand and enthusiasm for the company Must demonstrate an understanding of internet technology including an understanding of HTML, Image management for a website, design and design tools, and standard internet protocols. 5+ years’ experience directly managing ecommerce technology which includes but is not limited to Content Management Systems User Experience and UI design Third Party Vendor Relationships and interfaces used for extended ecommerce marketing Website analytics Internet Marketplaces(Amazon:Ebay) and related middleware ( Mercent) Internal (onsite) Search Engines and the optimization of those engines Search Engine Optimization best practices Deep knowledge of Google Analytics Ability to improve daily operations and the ability to be flexible and responsive to consumer trends and new ideas Experience meeting aggressive targets for an online business, meeting the challenge with streamlined processes and innovative methods of achieving goals Highly process oriented and have a history of implementing workflow and procedures, and you love doing this Experience with project management within ecommerce Experience with Mobile Development and marketing Must have experience participating in cross functional teams Experience translating business objectives into technology and operational processes to achieve goals Experience managing and reporting on many projects simultaneously including: budgets, vendors, consumer traffic, production status, contract status, and financial reporting You are a very strong leader and enjoy leading teams in a high performance environment You are a problem solver: you are the most solutions oriented person you know You are a self-starter and can lead and drive your own team to meet company objectives You are the most detail oriented person you know You are built for the speed of a rapidly growing business unit A history of willing going above on beyond the call of duty Calm under pressure Play well in the sandbox with lots of different stakeholders
