Stagecoach North East – job description Job Title: Marketing Manager Responsible to: Commercial Director Location: Sunderland Head Office Job Purpose To work with the marketing/commercial team, management team and directors; with the aim of retaining and attracting customers through effective communications and promotions. This includes developing new marketing and communications channels, as well as maintaining and improving existing ones, always protecting the Company’s public reputation and looking to deliver business growth. Job Activities Overall responsibility for the marketing and customer service functions: including line management of the team members. Generating ideas for branding, launches and promotions designed to engage with the travelling public, always looking for new ways of creating marketing opportunities for customer retention and acquisition. Planning and managing multi-media promotional campaigns, both direct and through agencies as required. Managing digital channels; including, website, APP, email, social media and other digital platforms – ensuring audiences are kept up-to-date with timetables, ticket prices, promotions and other relevant information Preparing & presenting marketing reports and plans, to meet business objectives and key performance indicators. PR - planning and co-ordination of photo calls, press releases and special events. Handling media enquiries; providing company statements and organising interviews with company directors and journalists. Writing copy for literature, websites, editorial and promotional campaigns. Proof reading information/promotional material. Overseeing the preparation, print and delivery of all information and promotional materials. (Keeping within Stagecoach group guidelines, as appropriate) Preparing and controlling budgets - keep records of local marketing expenditure and prepare reports on costs and budgets as required. Handling requests for charity, sponsorship and community support. Any other reasonable duties delegated by the Commercial Director or Managing Director. Functional Relationships Manage the marketing and customer services/communications team. Build strong working relationships with commercial, engineering and operations teams to ensure two-way communication is maintained and marketing campaigns have maximum impact. Liaise with external suppliers, local authority contacts and commercial partners to ensure the smooth running of marketing activities. Play an active role in the UK Bus marketing team; attending forums and contributing to discussions and campaign planning of the company-wide marketing function. Act as Company marketing contact for UK Bus communications and projects. Build productive relationships with community groups and local authorities. Person Profile Essential: Educated to HND/degree standard At least 5 years experience in a marketing role – with the same or similar duties and responsibilities Experienced with content management systems, GA, Excel, Word and other internet based marketing tools for email marketing, survey management etc. Confident, outgoing person with excellent communication skills Strong leadership and influencing skills Creative and open minded High standard of written English (punctuation & grammar) Exceptional organisation skills High standard of personal presentation Ideal but not essential: CIM Diploma or marketing degree Working knowledge of e-commerce systems and software An interest in public transport / environmental issues Car driving licence
