MEDICATION: famotidine (Brand names include Nu-Famotidine, Pepcid, Pepcid AC, Pepcid AC Acid
Controller, Pepcid RPD, and Rhoxal-Famotidine.)
WHAT IT'S USED FOR: Famotidine is used to treat intestinal and stomach ulcers and conditions
marked by excess acid in the gastrointestinal tract.
HOW TO TAKE IT
§ Take drug with food or liquids at bedtime, unless otherwise recommended.
WARNINGS & PRECAUTIONS!
§ Tell your prescriber if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
SIDE EFFECTS
This drug may cause dizziness, headache, numbness and tingling sensations, weakness, palpitations,
nausea, diarrhea, constipation, altered taste, dry mouth, appetite loss, swelling around eyes,
conjunctival redness, tinnitus, musculoskeletal pain, flushing, acne, dry skin, fever, and hypersensitivity
reactions. Notify your prescriber if any of these symptoms become bothersome.
INTERACTIONS
Although famotidine may not interact with others drugs, you should avoid alcohol and caffeine when
taking it because they may increase gastric irritation. Don’t use herbal remedies without consulting your
prescriber.
STORAGE
• Store at 77° F. Discard unused suspension after 30 days.
ADDITIONAL POINTS:
§ Tell your prescriber if you have kidney disease.
§ Be aware that pain relief may not begin for several days after therapy starts.
