Job Details
Position summary:

This role will work across Carrier (luxury, tailor-made tour operator) and Carrier
Travel, our travel agency in Alderley Edge (“retail shop”)

Tour operator sales come via two channels, direct and trade. The primary purpose of
this role will be to drive forward trade marketing activity and support the retail shop
with local marketing. Trade sales represent 75% of our business

Plan and execute marketing activities for all channels in close liaison with: the
Marketing and Product teams, the in-house Studio, the Head of Sales and the Retail
Manager, ensuring that these are well-executed, delivered on time, within budget and
on brand

Contribute to the joint marketing process (campaigns with hotels, tourist boards and
airlines) from initiation to delivery

Be commercially aware and react to tactical opportunities to ensure we are promoting
the strongest messages and products at relevant times

Develop excellent relationships internally and with key supplier partners

Support the Marketing Manager in delivering against all marketing objectives and
tactical initiatives as required.
Areas of responsibility & brief description:
Trade & Retail – primary focus

Assume day-to-day responsibility for the delivery of all trade marketing activity,
including but not limited to: website management, content, advertising, emails, direct
mail, leaflets, event collateral, point of sale, window displays, special offer promotion
and PR

Devise and execute activity according to the marketing plan/calendar

Manage the trade and retail marketing budgets; maximise activity with limited funds

Plan resource to achieve deadlines

Respond to tactical, ad hoc requests to support our Sales team and trade partners

Manage and attend events, as required.
Joint Marketing

Work with the Marketing Manager to achieve income targets from joint marketing
partners

Personally manage accounts – sell in opportunities, procure funding and communicate
on an ongoing basis

Attend trade fairs and social events as required

Ensure all partners receive a copy of their marketing activity upon publication/release

Maintain contacts database, schedules and contracts.
Campaigns & content

Research opportunities to achieve campaign objectives

Copy-write for direct mailings (e.g. the Carrier magazine, themed and seasonal
campaigns) and websites, bearing in mind SEO value and brand guidelines

Proof-check to an extremely high standard

Select images for use in marketing collateral as required

Liaise
and
co-ordinate
with
internal
parties

Sales
Managers, Reservations Managers, IT, Finance) as appropriate to ensure that activities
are delivered in the corporate style, within budget and on time

Liaise with third parties for approval of all partner-funded marketing activities.
General Responsibility

Be an ambassador for the Carrier brand and values

Foster excellent working relationships with other departments

Communicate effectively across your area of responsibility, with Carrier management
and Group colleagues

Assess ad hoc opportunities that arise throughout the year and escalate/progress as
appropriate

Assist with any corporate exhibitions/presentations/events

Produce reports to demonstrate results on a regular and ad hoc basis

Undertake administrative duties associated with the marketing department.
Minimum requirements: (education, experience, specific knowledge, skills)

Of graduate calibre, preferably with marketing degree or post-graduate qualification

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

Previous experience of a leisure or premium brand desirable, preferably within a
small, fast-paced team


Demonstrable experience of producing marketing collateral including direct mail
and advertising

Proven ability to negotiate successfully with suppliers or commercial partners

A flair for creativity within the marketing spectrum

Previous experience of working with external agencies, including briefing of
campaigns and creative

Strong organisational and analytical skills including experience of Microsoft Office,
CRM and CMS desirable

Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team

Professional, presentable and assertive.
