Structure: This two-day educational workshop will comprise a mixture of lectures and tutorials held by experts in the field on immunoglobulin gene interpretation in CLL. Topics covered during the workshop: •Latest recommendations on IGHV gene mutational status •IG gene interpretation and troubleshooting •New bioinformatics tools •Trouble cases in clinical routine •Stereotyped B-cell receptors in CLL Scientific committee: Chrysoula Belessi (Greece) Frederic Davi (France) Paolo Ghia (Italy) Marie-Paule Lefranc (France) Richard Rosenquist (Sweden) Kostas Stamatopoulos (Greece) Program at a glance 24 September 2009 Session I – IG genes in CLL: biological and clinical aspects Mechanisms of IG diversity The IG as a key player in CLL ontogeny Clinical relevance of IG gene analysis in CLL Session II – IG genes in CLL: technical aspects From the patient to the sequence: primers, PCR, detection of clonality, sequencing Online tools for interpretation of IG sequences and navigation through the IMGT web-resources Session III – Interpretation of IG sequences (tutorial) How to use the IMGT/V-QUEST tool? Basic exercises I Basic exercises II 25 September 2009 Session IV – Interpretation of IG sequences: ”trouble” cases (tutorial and interactive session) Introduction to ”trouble” cases Exercises Session V – Ig analysis in clinical routine ERIC recommendations How to report Ig gene data in clinical routine? Cases difficult to categorize - how to handle them? Session VI – IG gene analysis: new challenges, new approaches IG genes in CLL – what´s next? Open interactive session All tutorials include a theoretical background followed by computer-based exercises, guided case presentations and solving of trouble cases. Workshop fee: 250 Euro. Includes lunch and coffee breaks during the workshop. Computer: Private laptops for the applied parts are highly welcome, wireless LAN is provided.
