Survey of Email Marketing Software in use at
Australian Educational Institutions
UTS are seeking to enhance the management and co-ordination of email marketing across the university. Key
to achieving this improvement is the implementation of an email marketing software solution around which
internal processes and procedures can be developed. A coordinated solution will allow standardisation of
information and be a single source from which to communicate with external contacts.
The first step being undertaken is the gathering of requirements from stakeholders across the university.
Following this we plan to propose an appropriate procurement method to identify a software solution.
To aid us in selecting a solution, we would like to understand what other universities may already be using to
manage their email marketing and how this might be integrated with their customer relationship manager
(CRM) system. A set of questions has been prepared with the information that is relevant for our decision
making process. Ideally we are seeking a software solution that is well supported within Australia both from a
vendor and customer base point of view.
UTS currently use ‘Email Marketer’ to manage their email marketing.
The core functions of the email marketing solution that we seek are:

The ability to manage (create, import, export, duplicate check) contacts/subscribers

The ability to create and manage email templates without HTML expertise

The ability to upload attachments (files, photos, spread sheets etc.)to an email

The ability to test and send emails for multiple platforms (ipad, android, gmail etc.)

Flexible activity reporting, e.g. click through rates, open rates, location based statistics, device used to
open the email

Comprehensive Customer support including technical support and online training
Please provide responses to Liam Lynch at [email protected] by Monday the 22nd July.
