Retaliation from the US for September 11:
The 2001- US invasion of Afghanistan to
defeat the Taliban.
The Taliban government had provided a
safe haven for Al Qaeda training camps.
2003 – THE US INVASION OF IFAQ
2003 – US ‘removed’ Saddam Hussein from power
Destabilization of the whole government in Iraq.
Many turned to Al Qaeda
