What is Ergonomics?
Ergonomics is the study of the Ergo bird, mostly known to inhabit Hawaii.
Ergonomics is the study of designing equipment and devices that fit the human
body.
Ergonomics is the philosophy of the planet Ergo.
Why Ergonomics?
Proper ergonomic design is necessary to prevent repetitive strain injuries ,
which can develop over time and can lead to long-term disability.
Repetitive strain injury is an injury of the musculoskeletal and nervous
systems that may be caused by

Ergonomics
The musculoskeletal system is an organ system that gives us
the ability to move using the muscular and skeletal systems.
The musculoskeletal system provides form, support, stability,
and movement to the body.
The nervous system is an organ system containing a network
of specialized cells called neurons that coordinate the actions
of the body and transmit signals between different parts of its
body.
Ergonomics
The term 'ergonomics' is generally used to refer to physical ergonomics as it
relates to the workplace, such as furniture and equipment.
Over five million workers sustain overextension injuries per year.

The Median nerve starts in the upper limb and runs down
the arm into the palm. It originates from the brachial
plexus (a network of fibers) running from the spine.
The median nerve is the only nerve that passes through
the carpal tunnel, where it may be compressed to cause
carpal tunnel syndrome.
The main symptom of CTS is intermittent numbness of
the thumb, index, long and radial half of the ring finger.
The numbness is relieved by wearing a wrist splint that
prevents flexion.
