CIM Professional Diploma in Marketing The Professional Diploma in Marketing is ideal for marketers who are concerned with managing the marketing process at an operational level, as well as those who are looking to build on the knowledge gained at Professional Certificate level with a future marketing management role in mind. The content of the course has been put together following consultation with employers to ensure that they gain relevant competencies for various stages of their marketing career. By understanding how to write, implement and evaluate an effective marketing plan, you will gain skills needed at an operational level and become an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing The Modules Marketing Planning Process Delivering Customer Value through Marketing Managing Marketing Project Management for Marketing Marketing Planning Process – Outline: This module is designed to provide a detailed understanding of marketing planning. It also considers a thorough assessment of the dynamic and complex nature of the marketing environment and its impact on developing marketing plans to achieve strategic outcomes and competitive advantage in the marketplace. Assessment Method This module will be assessed through a work based assignment involving the preparation of a marketing plan. Delivering Customer Value through Marketing – Outline: This module’s primary focus is the development and execution of marketing activities that have been designed to achieve customer satisfaction and meet organisational objectives, through effective marketing mix strategies which deliver stakeholder value. The module includes the development of the product portfolio, managing marketing channels, managing the communications mix and managing the service expectations of customers. Assessment Method This module will be assessed through examination. Managing Marketing – Outline: The Managing Marketing module focuses on developing the marketer as a manager, including giving them the knowledge and understanding required to develop and manage the marketing infrastructure and the organisation’s talent development, capability and capacity. The module also includes developing and managing marketing teams as well as developing a detailed understanding of managing the financial aspects of the marketing function and its associated activities. Assessment Method This module will be assessed through work-based assignment Project Management for Marketing – Outline: This module will focus on the development and delivery of a justified management process to support the initiation, implementation and control of marketing projects, including the use of research and information and preparing proposals and briefs. It will cover the evaluation of project proposals while managing the associated risk of implementing particular plans. The module will focus on the implementation of Updated 21st October 2010 marketing proposals including an in-depth view of project management, but also integrating knowledge from the other modules at this level. Assessment Method This module will be assessed through a work-based project requiring an in-depth study of a specific and focused area of business activity Mode of study/course length This is a part-time course where students can either choose to study for 2 evenings per week and complete the course in 1 year, or study for 1 evening per week and complete the course in 2 years. Classes are held every Monday & Wednesday 18:00-21:00 (students taking the course over 2 years will study either Monday or Wednesday depending on the module due to be taken). Students will study at the new Rose Bowl Building at the Civic Quarter Campus in Leeds city centre.
