increases the movement of Na out of myocardial cells after contraction – As a result, Ca enters the cell in exchange for Na, causing additional Ca to be released from intracellular binding sites – With the increase in intracellular concentration of free Ca ions, more Ca is available to activate the contractile proteins, actin & myosin, & increase myocardial 19 contractility 2) Cardiotonics &
