SIVA INSTRUMENTS
Loss Factor Meter
Model : LPO-5D/LP0-5MD
These instruments have been specially
designed for routine testing and sorting of great
number
of
Paper
and
Polypropylene
Capacitors used for correcting Loss Factor of
industrial loads.
Tan d is read directly in terms of percentage.
The instrument has an essential advantage
over the customary bridges as measurements
are carried out under actual working conditions
(50 Hz, 150 Volts or high voltage upto 11KV)
and that no tuning is necessary prior to every
single reading. This results in higher sorting
speed, hence in more economical productive
tests. No exacting demands are made on the
alertness of the checker. The measured value
can be read directly on a meter .
The Loss Factor Meter makes use of the fact
that the current through the capacitor will not
lead exactly 90 from the voltage across it. The
extent of deviation in the phase is measured
with an ultra sensitive phase detector
comprising of solid-state components only. The
capacitor is coupled to the circuit by a low loss
network.
A separate meter for calibration is provided to
compensate been made to use the best possible
components to ensure electrical stability.
The measurement is done at AC voltage
between 150 V and 11 KV, 50 Hz. The
instrument measures the Loss Factor as low as
0.0002 and the indication is directly given on the
Digital Panel Meter. The capacitance range is
0.1 mfd to 1000 mfd. The capacitors can be
checked at the rate of 200 per hour. Isolating
transformer of adequate rating is required
depending on the size of the biggest capacitor to
be tested. Speed of testing can be increased
substantially if the equipment is used in
conjunction with "Control Unit" Model, LPO 5D/LPO - 5MD can be used in conjunction with
Capacitance Meter LSO - 9D for simultaneous
indication of Value and Loss Angle.
The equipment is available in two models as per
the specifications given overleaf.
