World History Blue Springs South High School Instructor – Mr. Ryan Unruh Email Address – [email protected] School Phone – 224-1315 Plan Hour –7th Hour (1:25 – 2:15) Rome Number - #1016 Course Purpose – To survey the broad history of the civilizations of our world from beginning of history: past, present, and future, as well as form opinions and gain knowledgeable facts of all civilizations studied. Objectives – At the completion of this course, students should be able to: Understand the major themes of world history. Think critically about how past events shape the present. Understand the relationship of the individual to society. Interpret maps, charts, graphs, timelines, and photographs. Identify the foundations of societies (economic, political, and cultural). Course Grades – grades in this course will be earned through a combination of homework assignments, projects, quizzes, tests, etc. All assignments will receive the same weight when determining course grades. Grades are based on total earned on all course work. The grading scale follows district standards as outlined in your student handbook. Required materialsTextbook, “World History – Patterns of Interaction”, pencil/pen, paper, and a spiral notebook designated for this class. Expectations – Be on time. Come prepared for work Respect your classmates and teacher. All electronic devices off and away Follow all school and district guidelines as outlined in the student handbook. Make-Up and Late Work – Please make every attempt to be in class each day. If you are gone, you have a day for each day you were gone to make up the work. You will have one week from the day of the test to make up the test. It is your responsibility to get the assignments missed and turn them in. No late work will be accepted.
