Uma Maheshwar Rao1 ABSTRACT Immunostimulatory monoclonal antibodies lead to development of immune-receptor molecules as new design for cancer therapy. These agents function on key receptors, either by antagonizing those that suppress immune responses or by triggering others that enhance immune responses. Complexities such as autoimmune diseases and systemic inflammation are problematic side effects associated with these agents. Nonetheless, synergistic effects have been observed in preclinical models using combinations of Immunostimulatory antibodies and other immunotherapy designs or current cancer therapies. Monoclonal antibodies have now entered clinical trials with emboldening initial results.
