Database Development Director – Informa Business Information
Informa Business Information, part of the Informa group currently has an exciting opportunity
available in our Central London office for a Database Development director to join our growing
team. We are an expanding global business, offering an excellent opportunity for a strategic and
tactical Database Development Director looking to continue/establish a career in a leading
global digital media company.

company that provides market intelligence, news and analysis, bespoke consulting services,
industry events and specialist online training to millions of customers worldwide through online
platforms and multimedia subscription services.
Reporting into the Deputy COO, the successful Database Development Director will be
responsible for supporting the development of a multi-million pound product portfolio across
multiple business units. This exciting strategic and tactical role will provide leadership for the
database development team and drive the long-term database environment strategy.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:









Director-level experiences in an IT and technology function including:
o Extensive experiences in programme/project management.
o Experience in driving and managing IT processes
o Experience in managing distributed and matrix teams
o Experience in managing suppliers
o Familiarity with project planning and control techniques.
Extensive experience in managing full life-cycle of software development (inc. change
management, UAT and release management) using modern software development
methodology (e.g. Agile) , and operation of production systems (inc. establishing&
maintaining processes, monitoring and incident management)
Extensive experience in design and setup of database infrastructure (inc DR, and
security)
Extensive experience in development of data warehouse and business intelligence
solutions
Familiarity of application development methods, techniques and standards
Familiarity of technical architecture methods, techniques and standards
Experience and skills in the following:
o Database technology: Oracle database (Oracle 11G and above), MS SQL
database (SQL 2008 R2 and above) and MySQL
o Business intelligence techniques and tools, e.g. Tableau, SQL Analysis Service,
Oracle BI, BusinessObject, or IBM Cognos
o Database integration techniques and tools, e.g. SQL Integration Service, Oracle
ODI, or Informatica
Knowledge of big data commercial considerations and opportunities
Exposure to Web technology: MS .net and Java EE technologies.
