SCARBOROUGH BOROUGH COUNCIL Job Specification Tourism Bureau Designation: Post No PN43 Digital Tourism Marketing Assistant Responsible to: Area Tourism Director through Digital Marketing Officer Effective from: August 2016 Main Purpose of the Job: To work closely with the Welcome to Yorkshire Local branch team to promote the area as a key visitor destination for the economic benefit of the district. As a Digital Marketing Assistant, you will be working as part of our team to help conceive, plan and implement a wide range of targeted social media and digital marketing activity to help grow and develop our clients’ businesses. The key areas of work will include assisting in campaign planning & copywriting, assisting with website development projects, e-marketing and social media campaigns. There will also be opportunities to work on off-line marketing and promotions activity Job Activities Responsible to the Area Tourism Director through Digital Marketing Officer for assisting with the following:1. Assist in promoting the area as a key tourist destination by working with partners in the development and delivery of traditional and e-media/online promotional campaigns. 2. Content management of local Tourism web-sites 3. Produce bi-monthly e-newsletters & features for the web-site 4. Delivery of social media activity for tourism services 5. Assist tourism businesses to maximise marketing opportunities through the development and delivery of social media and e-marketing activities 6. Liaise with tourism operators in the area to discuss their needs, ideas and give advice and training 2 7. To use web-site analytics to assist in the development of future e-marketing strategies 8. To support the Tourism Marketing team in delivery of campaigns and events as required 9. To support the development of effective communication channels between local area office and stakeholders and Welcome to Yorkshire regional office to ensure promotion of the destination is maximised 10. Implementation of Council and Service policies and procedures, especially with regard to ICT policy, employment, control of finance, ordering and paying for goods and services, stock control, disciplining staff and the keeping of records. 12. The postholder is required to vary his/her personal working hours according to the requirement of the job, which includes out of normal hours working, weekends and Bank Holidays, for which no extra remuneration will be paid. 13. Undertaking any other duties that the Area Director may require.
