Advertising a vehicle for sale on council areas and roads
A vehicle (including a car, truck, boat, trailer, or caravan) cannot be parked on any council area or road
for the purpose of advertising it for sale. This is under Moreton Bay Regional Council Local Law No. 4
(Local Government Controlled Areas and Roads) 2011.
Council area or road includes:
 A park, reserve or gazetted foreshore;
 A council owned camping ground or caravan park;
 Council swimming pools;
 Council cemeteries;
 Jetties, landings, ramps, locks and canals;
 Council car parks;
 Footpath (either with or without constructed footpath); or
 Side of the road.
If you are selling or advertising your vehicle on a local government controlled area or road please be
advised that it is an offence under Council’s Local Laws and that fines can be issued.
Penalties apply for selling or advertising your vehicle on a local government controlled area or road. The
penalty amount is standard across the whole of Moreton Bay Regional Council.
To ensure that you avoid a penalty you are required to park wholly within your property.
Should council receive a complaint or observe your vehicle for sale on a local government controlled
area or road a Penalty Infringement Notice will be issued.
