Gift of Securities Instructions Preface If you wish to make a gift of securities to the Community Foundation of Snohomish County, there are several possible ways of doing so, depending upon whether the securities are registered in your own name, held in a bank custodian account, or in a brokerage account. Certain gifts of appreciated securities receive tax-advantaged treatment. Generally, the donors will receive a full deduction for the fair market value of the securities; however, they will not have to include in their IRS reported income the gain that has accrued. Please consult your tax advisor for more detail on the treatment of such a transaction. Broker-to-Broker Transfer Below is the information needed to assist in the transfer of securities from your own account to the Community Foundation of Snohomish County. The Authorization to Transfer Stocks form is sent to your broker and a copy sent or faxed to the Community Foundation of Snohomish County. If you choose this method, please let us know in advance so that our broker can be alerted to accept the securities.
