2- B Grade Step 1 The Challenge (Edic, Danna P., Luis Alberto, Fernanda) The Challenge of this Project was to make a poster with the Butterfly Life Cycle designed on Paint, and program a robot. Its name is Dash. We used an app to make it go through each Butterfly Life Cycle stage shown on the poster. Step 2 Gather Materials (Gustavo, Thiago, Constanza, Jesus) To make our project we used a cell phone with the Blockly App., a robot (Dash), and a poster made with a design of the Butterfly Life Cycle done on Paint. Step 3 Explore (Laura, Eugenio, Leonardo; Juliana) We investigated about robots and learned that a robot is a mechanical device controlled by a computer. It is a machine designed to execute one or more tasks automatically with speed and precision, previously programmed. We can program robots using Wi-Fi, a cell phone or an app, by coding, those are instructions programmers write in special languages. We can do this because a robot´s brain is a computer. Step 4 Create (Juan Pablo, Victoria Z.,Ana Victoria, Aaron Cruz) First, we had to make an investigation about the Butterfly Life Cycle. Then we made a design of the Butterfly Life Cycle stages and checked the material we needed to make the diagram. It had to be flat so the robot could move easily on its surface. Then we programmed Dash to move it around our diagram. Step 5 Try it out! (Diego, Mauricio, Enrique, Sara) We practiced programming with code. We installed the App Blocky on a cellphone or tablet. We programmed Dash to move around the Butterfly Life Cycle. We used different programming combinations to make Dash move around the Butterfly Life Cycle that we wanted to talk about. (Barbara, Isabel,Mia, Gabriel ) During the project, we learned how to code using the Blocky App for Dash. Virtual reality is the term used to describe a three-dimensional computer-generated environment which can be explored and interacted with by a person. Virtual reality allows the person to view three-dimensional images. We also learned that the Butterfly Life Cycle has 4 stages: egg, caterpillar (larva), Chrysalis (pupa) and its final stage is to become into a butterfly. The life cycle process can take from a month to a year. It depends on the type of butterfly.
