problems. Your math journal and all the Study Links from Unit 8 will also help you prepare.
Determine if mixed numbers and fractions are equivalent (ex: 1 ½ is equal to 3/2)
Multiply fractions (ex: ¾ * ½ = 3/8)
Find common denominators for fractions (ex:
A common denominator for ¾ and 1/3 is twelfths.)
Find the percent of a number (ex: 40% of 1000 = 400)
Convert between fractions, decimals and percents (ex: 3/10, 0.30, 30%)
Order and compare fractions ( ex: ¾ > 5/16)
Add and subtract mixed numbers (ex: 1 1/3 + 2 ½ = 3 5/6 or 4 1/3 – 2 ¾ = 1 7/12)
Convert between fractions and mixed numbers (ex: 2 3/8 = 1 11/8)
Multiply mixed numbers (ex: 1 1/3 * 2 2/5, first change to 4/3 * 12/5 then multiply
straight across to equal 48/15 then convert to mixed number- 3 3/15, reduce again to 3 1/5)
solve problems involving division of a unit fraction by a whole number or division of a whole
number by a unit fraction
