B.F Skinner
An absolutely marvelous

B.F Skinner’s Area Of Research
•B.F Skinner’s area of research was
Behavioral Therapy, in which he came up
with the theory of Operant Conditioning.
Research Findings
● He understood the importance of
consequences for negative actions and
positive reinforcement for positive ones.
He thought that breaking tasks into
smaller parts and rewarding children for
finishing them would create behavior
change. This is Called Operant
Conditioning.
B.F. Skinner’s Process of Research
• He based his ideas off of John D. Watson,
but not as extreme as Watson. He used what
most people called the Skinner Box. He put
a rat in a box that had an electric current
running through and a lever to teach the
rats to turn off the electric current.
Similar Studies Of B.F. Skinner’s
● Ivan Pavlov did conditioning experiments
with dogs. He made it so that at the sound
of a bell, the dogs would salivate because
they knew it was feeding time.
Age of Children researched.
● Through our research, we found that
Skinner actually did most of his experiments
on animals such as rats and pigeons. He did
however, test some theories on his
daughter who was around 3-4 at the time.
Accuracy
● In our opinions, B.F. Skinner’s research isn’t
all that accurate because he didn’t
research children indepthly, but instead
only researched on rats and other animals.
If the Study was done today
● If B.F. Skinner were to do his research in
this day and age, his outcome might be
more accurate with his ability to study
children with new technology and the one
way glass rooms.
