Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs Notes
+

In order to understand ourselves and others we must first
know our basic needs.

Basic needs are things you must have to be physically and
mentally healthy, such as food, shelter, support and love.

Basic needs are divided into physical needs and
psychological needs

Physical needs=things you need to survive (food, water, etc)

Psychological needs= emotions and relationships (love, esteem,
sense of worth, approval, etc.)
+
Humanist Psychology:

Humanist focus upon potentials.

Humanist do not believe that human being are pushed
and pulled by mechanical forces, either of stimuli and
reinforcements (behaviorism) or of unconscious
instinctual impulses (psychoanalysis).

They believe that humans strive for an upper level of
capabilities.

Humans seek the frontiers of creativity, the highest
reaches of consciousness and wisdom.
