Audience Development and Distribution
Please find below a series of questions to help kick off and frame discussions around the
audience development and distribution of your project. Please note that not all questions
will be relevant for all projects, and that some questions may not be able to be answered
at this point. As well as assisting with ideas for content distribution, The Space can also
help with crystalising thoughts around the areas touched on below.
What is the estimated audience reach?
 Who is the target audience (age, location, demographic etc)?
 How has the audience reach been calculated? Have you conducted
any research?
Are there any other measures of success e.g. engagement, fan growth,
organization/brand awareness etc?
How will the key performance indicators mentioned above be measured e.g.
Google Analytics, Facebook Analytics, YouTube analytics, third party/agency
report etc?
Do you intend to/are you able to conduct a qualitative survey of the online
audience for your project?
How will/could the project be distributed?
 Which platform(s) will it sit on e.g. broadcast partner, own website,
third party website, app store, video-sharing website etc?
 Is the (or will the) distribution platform be optimised for mobile
devices/created for different platforms e.g. iOS, Android etc?
 Please state reasons for distribution methods e.g. target audience
have a track record of using the platform, the platform suits the
project etc.
How will the project be optimised for search engines, app store or channel
visibility?

What supporting content (online or offline) will be produced to market/add
context/explain the project?
 Examples: graphics for online/social use, supporting
articles/listicles/blogs, AV footage for online/offline/social use, flyers,
leaflets etc?
Who will be responsible for creating any supporting content?
Please break down responsibilities if applicable.
[Offline Marketing]: How will it be promoted to press, TV, radio, including any
paid-for advertising?
 What are the target media outlets and audience demographics?
 Please list any existing partnerships/leads to be leveraged.
[Online Marketing] How will the project be promoted online? Please include
any paid-for advertising plans.
 Please include any email plans, as well as database numbers.
 Please include a social media plan, including platforms and number of
Followers/Likes etc.
 Please list any existing partnerships/marketing/seeding opportunities
[Online Marketing] Who will be responsible for marketing the project online
and on social media?
Please break down responsibilities if applicable.
Please outline any key dates that will provide a focus for marketing activity on
the run-up, during, and after the project’s publishing date.
What is the estimated budget for creating any supporting content, marketing
and paid-for advertising on off-line, online and social media channels?
 Please break down by content creation, offline marketing, online
marketing and any other associated costs/responsibilities.
