Course Objectives
To acquire knowledge of:
 The fundamental principles of structure and function of the human body.
 How these principles can be and are actually applied.
 Basic anatomical, physiological and medical terminology.
To develop ability to:
 Reason critically.
 Habitually ask “Why?” and “How does this relate to what I already know?” and attempt
to answer these questions.

Second Semester will require dissecting the rat and various organs from a
sheep and a cow.
Grading
9 week grade is compiled from:
3/4 tests, quizzes, notebook and labs
1/4 homework assignments
A chapter/body system is covered every two weeks. One or more labs will be conducted
during that time and there are daily homework assignments. A multiple choice/ short
answer test or a lab practical is given for each chapter/body system covered.
School Grade Scale A 100-90 B 89-80 C 79-70 D 69-60
Full Credit is earned for work submitted when due.
Makeup Work
Student needs to refer to student handbook rules for makeup work from absence and no
late work is accepted if the student was not absent.
The student is responsible for communicating with Mrs. Tuggle after an absence or
prior to an absence when he/she is aware beforehand.
Makeup work is done before or after school.
Notebook requirement – 3 ring binder or folder with tabs in the middle
All notes, articles, worksheets, and labs will be kept in the notebook. The notebook will
be collected each grading period for a grade equivalent to a test grade.
