Helping Verbs
 Forms of the verb be = is, are, was, were, being, been, am
 Other helping verbs = shall, will, should, would, could, must, can, may, have, had, has, do,
did, does

Gerund as direct object:
1. Separate the sentence into subject and predicate parts.
2. Label the verb with “V.”
3. Underline the gerund as the direct object and label with “G.”

Linking Verbs
 Forms of the verb be = is, are, was, were, being, been, am
 Other linking verbs = appear, become, feel, grow, look, remain, seem, smell, sound, taste

Gerund as object of preposition:
This type of gerund is part of a gerund ____________________ because there is more than
