Ancient Civilization Research Project
6th Grade World History
April 29, 2016
Dear Parent/Guardian:
Phase One is complete, and it is time to begin Phase Two! This phase focuses on the students’ compositional skills.
Students will compose a research paper based off of the information they compiled during Phase One. Students have
received guidelines for this specific paper, and they have been taught all year how to compose paragraphs and create
organized compositions. They will have to turn in a completed outline, a rough draft, and a final copy of their paper
on May 6, 2016. A rubric has been provided in order to explain the requirements and expectations. Students will be
shown examples of appropriate work for each phase; examples can also be found on your child’s teacher’s school
website.
***Please note that after the initial choice of topic is made, it cannot be changed.
Students can complete Phase Two during their free time or at their homes. As stated in their packets, the final draft
can be handwritten or typed, but the rough draft must be handwritten in their neatest handwriting! If a student needs
to stay after school to work on this phase, they need to receive prior permission from their teacher.
Phase Two is due on May 6, 2016. Phase Two will NOT be accepted before or after this date.

Please complete and return the bottom portion of this letter for the 6 th Grade World History records by May 4, 2016.
If not received by the appropriate date, your child will follow the disciplinary ladder until the form is turned into the
appropriate teacher.
