Julius Caesar was a patrician He was born into a patrician family in Rome Both his mother (Aurelia Cottae) and father (Gaius Julius Caesar) come from patrician families too Julius Caesar stayed a patrician for just about his whole life Julius Caesar and the Military Julius Caesar is most likely one of the greatest generals of all time Julius Caesar is ranked up with Alexander the Great, Hannibal, and Napoleon Bonaparte because of his great leadership skills Some of Caesar’s legions include Legio Germanica, Gallica, Macedonica, Alaude, Ferrata, Clandia, Augusta, Hispana, Equestris, Claudia, Fulninata, and Gemina Changes Caesar Made Caesar proposed many laws to the government of Rome Caesar destroyed the Republic because he wanted Rome to be run by 1 man only and he wanted that man to be him Caesar turned Rome into a totalitarian state and crushed democracy Caesar’s Enemies Julius Caesar had an abundance of enemies during his lifetime Some of his enemies include the Senate, Pompey, Africa, Spain, and many more Caesar and the Government Julius Caesar didn’t like the Senate of Rome at all The Consuls helped Caesar get his generalship The Assembly voted Caesar into office Caesar did not get along with the Tribunes The Plebeians cheered for Caesar because they got along with Julius so well Defeated Foreigners and Rivals One of the most famous political rivals that Caesar defeated was Pompey Caesar defeated many foreigners such as the Germans, the Nervii, the Helvetians, and the Gauls What Was He Famous For?
