Characteristics of Miss Ruthenberg By Zannie Ruthenberg Year 7 Science 2009 Miss Ruthenberg • Zannie Ruthenberg • Born 1st January 1982 in Toowoomba QLD. • I have two brothers named Duncan (29) and Damian (33). My parents live together in Bundaberg QLD. Movement • Humans move by walking on their two legs. We can also run, jump and hop on these legs. When humans are infants they use both their arms and legs to crawl. • I get to school on my push bike. Sometimes when I am lazy I drive to school. • I have lived in Toowoomba, Bundaberg and Denver in the USA before moving to Tennant Creek. Growth • Humans begin life in their mother’s womb. They are then born and become infants. Babies then grow to become toddlers, children, adolescents and finally adults. Humans then age to become “mature” aged people before becoming elderly. Reproduction • Humans reproduce when a sperm and an ova meet to create a new life. This foetus then is then carried for 9 months by its mother before being born. Once born it becomes a new person and grows. Nutrition • Humans eat things by using their mouths. Food is first chewed in the mouth and then it goes down the osephagus into the stomach. From there food is ground up further and is then digested in the small intestine. • Humans should have a balanced diet including lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, cereals and bread and meat. Fatty and sugary food should be minimised in the diet to help maintain a healthy body. Respiration • Humans breathe using their lungs. Air enters the body either through the nose or mouth. Air is put into the bloodstream through the lungs which the heart pumps around the body. Blood without oxygen is then pumped back to the lungs where oxygen can be replaced into the bloodstream. Excretion of Wastes • Humans excrete waste in 3 ways. Unwanted air (carbon dioxide) is breathed out of the nose or mouth. Urine gets rid of liquid wastes in the body, mainly urea. Feces get rid of the solid particles of the body. Kidneys regulate the urine and liquid wastes and filters out harmful things in the body while the large intestines handle the solid wastes. Sensing • Humans have 5 senses: Hear, see, touch, taste and smell. • Favourite smell: Freshly cooked pancakes • Favourite taste: Pasta and sauce • Favourite fabric: Cotton • Favourite artist: Robbie Williams • Favourite TV show: South Park History • I am 27 years of age and I have lived in Cloncurry for about 9 months. Previously to that I lived in Tennant Creek for four years and Bundaberg where my parents live. My grandparents now live in Bundaberg. The other side of my family live near Toowoomba where I spent the first 12 years of my life. Family Life • I am the youngest of three children. I am also the only girl in the family apart from my mother. My parents gave me lots of attention because of this. My brothers used to pick on me. I became really close with one of my brothers as we were pretty close in age and we shared similar interests. School Life I have attended: • Harrisontown Primary School (Toowoomba), preschool to year 6. • Avoca Primary School (Bundaberg), year 6 and 7. • Bundaberg State High School, years 8 to 12. • Central Queensland University (Bundaberg) Interests • • • • • Walking Scrapbooking Listening to music Reading Using the Internet and computers. Beliefs and Values • I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to be free and make their own choices. I also believe that everyone has the right to learn in this classroom and everyone should receive the same amount of attention from me. There also needs to appropriate consequences for actions to have a fair society. Zannie Ruthenberg • Humans are alive as they move, respire, reproduce, grow, excrete wastes and sense their environments.
