INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY
Internship Title: Marketing Intern
Reports To: Marketing Staff
Department: Marketing
Unit: Marketing, Retail and Sales
INTERNSHIP SUMMARY:
The Marketing Intern gains real-world marketing experience through work on projects in
social media, advertising, public relations, and online marketing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Expand OMSI’s online presence by curating regular content for Instagram,
Pinterest, Twitter, and Facebook feeds with a focus on growing and engaging
followers.
 Manage and send OMSI’s monthly media update with input from internal teams.
 Grow press database to include traditional and new media contacts and relevant
audience demographic information.
 Respond to media requests for photos, content review, and filming requests.
 Review website content for accuracy and update as needed
 Create and prepare assets for use online and in emails.
 Assist with other Marketing tasks as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
 Excellent written and oral communication skills.
 Ability to stay focused and manage time effectively.
 Knowledge of and enthusiasm for social media methods and strategies.
 Highly motivated with the ability to exercise initiative and good judgment.
 Extremely organized, detail-oriented, and a team player.
 Excellent work ethic and ability to work independently.
 Experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word,
PowerPoint, and Outlook.
 Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite a plus.
 Experience using Drupal or similar CMS a plus.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
OMSI’s Marketing Interns should be working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing,
Communications, and/or Public Relations. Graduate students are welcome to apply.
TIME COMMITMENT:
10-15 hours per week for 3-6 months.
