OREGON MUSEUM OF SCIENCE AND INDUSTRY INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY Internship Title: Marketing Intern Reports To: Marketing Staff Department: Marketing Unit: Marketing, Retail and Sales INTERNSHIP SUMMARY: The Marketing Intern gains real-world marketing experience through work on projects in social media, advertising, public relations, and online marketing. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Expand OMSI’s online presence by curating regular content for Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, and Facebook feeds with a focus on growing and engaging followers. Manage and send OMSI’s monthly media update with input from internal teams. Grow press database to include traditional and new media contacts and relevant audience demographic information. Respond to media requests for photos, content review, and filming requests. Review website content for accuracy and update as needed Create and prepare assets for use online and in emails. Assist with other Marketing tasks as assigned. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to stay focused and manage time effectively. Knowledge of and enthusiasm for social media methods and strategies. Highly motivated with the ability to exercise initiative and good judgment. Extremely organized, detail-oriented, and a team player. Excellent work ethic and ability to work independently. Experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite a plus. Experience using Drupal or similar CMS a plus. EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE: OMSI’s Marketing Interns should be working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, and/or Public Relations. Graduate students are welcome to apply.
