Series Circuits

In a series circuit :

Voltage is distributed among the resistors:
Energy=V¹+V²+V³

The total resistance can be found by adding all of the
resistances: R= R¹+R²+R³
Finding Voltage, Current and Resistance
for a Series Circuit
1)
Find the total Energy (Volts from battery)
2)
Find the total resistance
Total R=r¹ +r² +r³
3) Determine the total current
I = V/R
4)Because current is always constant in a series
circuit , you can find the voltage by each resistor.
4V
In Parallel Circuits…..
 Voltage
is always constant
How to find V, I and R in a parallel circuit
1. Determine
the total energy
2. Find the total Resistance : 1/total
R = 1/R¹ + 1/R² + 1/R³
3. Find out the total current leaving
the energy source:
Total Energy: Voltage/Resistance
