What are we going to use?
Activate (or provide) Prior Knowledge
A verb is the action in a sentence.
Which word in the sentence is the verb?
1. The dog barked at the mailman.
2. The cat climbed the tree.
CFU
Teacher answers #1, students answer #2.
Students, you already know how to identify verbs. In a sentence, there is always a verb, or an action, that takes place. There is always
someone or something that does the action, which is called the subject. A complete sentence uses both a subject and a verb. Today, we
will use subjects and verbs to write complete sentences.
