JOB TITLE
Communications Manager
 To lead the development and expert use of a range of marketing
tactics to disseminate OPM’s work
 To increase the profile and build the audiences of OPM through
sophisticated and targeted marketing (including digital, print and
events)
 To deliver tailored marketing support to OPM’s international offices,
portfolios and programmes reaching key markets and engaging
clients and partners to advance new business opportunities and
collaborations
 To act as guardian of the OPM brand and ensure its consistent use
 To deliver project communications consultancy, in collaboration with
the Communications team






Digital marketing
o Working closely with the Content team to produce integrated,
intelligent, multi-channel, campaigns
o Lead on developing and implementing targeted email
marketing and newsletters, including liaising with key internal
stakeholders, managing data, templates, content and
distribution
o Social media management, including new initiatives, channels
and experimentation, content sourcing and creation
o Monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of channels,
using data to improve their use, through Google Analytics, inbuild analytics software, etc.
Branding, design, data visualisation and infographics
o Overseeing corporate brand implementation
o Management of external suppliers and creative agencies,
including quality assurance and cost-effectiveness as well as
developing a worldwide network of designers, printers, etc.
o Delivery of sophisticated design and data visualisation
techniques, working with consultants to identify opportunities,
distil messages and content, and produce creative solutions
Web development
o Manage redesign/redevelopment of OPM website, working
with web developers and internal stakeholders
o Continual optimisation of OPM’s website through SEO and
Google algorithm improvements (keywords, analytics, etc)
Events
o Delivery of OPM’s external events and webinars
o Managing complete organisation, management and
execution
International offices and portfolios
o Guiding and supporting individual portfolios and international
offices in implementing their marketing strategies, including
identifying opportunities, developing tools and implementing
activities

Qualifications &
experience









o Ensure proper use of branding, imagery, etc.
o Provide marketing and branding training and guidance
Project-level marketing delivery (both stand-alone and in coordination
with OPM channels/tactics), including marketing materials, website
development, branding, email marketing, social media outreach, etc.
Line manage the Communications Assistant
Support the Communications Manager in:
o Delivering marketing strategies
o Providing expert advice and specialist marketing support
Keep up-to-date with sector developments and debates as well as
latest trends and tools in the digital marketing sphere (through news
monitoring, events, seminars, reading relevant articles etc.)
Educated to degree level or relevant work experience, with 7 years+
experience in marketing, digital, social media, events, etc.
Able to think strategically and proactively, to identify new
opportunities for marketing OPM and its work
Creative flair with desire to innovate and experiment
Excellent diplomacy skills, with the ability to manage negotiations well
and build strong relationships internally and externally
Good time and project management skills, with the ability to cope
with several jobs simultaneously and meet agreed deadlines
Team player but with the ability to use own guidance and initiative to
prioritise work and handle different demands appropriately
Understanding of key digital trends and tools and familiarity with
some or all of the following: website redevelopment, various social
media platforms, data visualisation or infographic design, CMS
systems, email marketing software (e.g. MailChimp), InDesign, etc.
Previous work experience, education or interest in international
development, government, policy studies, etc beneficial
