Summary
The Director of Consumer Marketing’s role is to increase the awareness of UP original movies and series,
to help drive ratings growth and overall awareness of the network among Women 25 – 54 who are
looking for uplifting entertainment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Work closely with SVP to determine key marketing priorities and strategies. Develop and implement
multi-platform marketing plans for UP premieres to attract and grow target audience and drive ratings.
Specifically:
 Create strategies for each original movie and series that will reinforce the network’s position and
guide creative development, media and each department’s promotional plans.
 Create and implement integrated media campaigns across multiple platforms that may include
traditional and non-traditional paid and earned media, UP digital/social, affiliates, sponsors,
partners and barter marketing.
 Collaborate with and oversee individual department marketing and promotion efforts for each
campaign to ensure each area is on strategy and fulfilling their plans (i.e., on-air, digital, social,
PR, affiliate, ad sales)
 Create and implement paid and earned social media strategies in collaboration with the
Digital/Social team that invite engagement, interaction and conversation to drive Facebook likes
and Twitter followers and ultimately viewership.
 Develop brand reinforcing creative for the marketing of all tentpoles that may include key art,
web assets, eblasts, etc.
 Develop key long-term partnerships with companies consistently reaching UP’s target audience.
 Oversee creative budgets including key art, photography, collateral and off air creative.
 Provide SVP with critical support and input when needed.
Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college/university and/or ten years of director/senior level
experience marketing, advertising and promoting original programs at an ad-supported cable network
with a proven track record of creating successful campaigns garnering above average ratings and
recognition. Experience working with production companies and/or producers and talent to maximize
their participation and cooperation from program inception to debut.

Additional Skills
 Demonstrated expertise with marketing concepts, creative development processes (working in
print, outdoor, radio, TV, digital/non-traditional, collateral and more), and project management
absolutely essential.
 Direct experience in consumer discipline, consumer promotion and entertainment industry.
 Demonstrated ability as a strong manager and experience building and managing dynamic
interdepartmental teams.
 A strategic thinker with good judgment and marketing acumen.
 Awareness of pop culture and trends.
 Leader who is accustomed to working closely on a team and doesn’t require close supervision or
attention to thrive.

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including
Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
