splits and problems?
 St.
Thomas wants us all to be in harmony
with Christ Jesus and with eachother.
 There
was bitterness and resentment in the
community of all that happened since 1653.
 Mar
Ivanios felt that communion with the
Catholic Church, which Malankara had from
the beginning was needed to restore peace.

The church was going through litigation and
splits.
 Appeal


to Rome

the Rome in 1926.
With two conditions

2) Give jurisdiction to the Bishops over all the Syrian
Jacobites who joined in the reunification.
 July
1930
 Rome assured that the


Antiochean Liturgy would be preserved
Bishops would be received into the Catholic
Church with their official status
 Mar
Ivanios visited Pope Pius XI in 1932 and
submitted the plan for growth and
development
 Archdiocese of Trivandrum and Tiruvulla
were established.
 Mar Ivanios was appointed Metropolitan
 The
members of the Puthenkoor community
who reunited with the Catholic Church are
the Malankara Catholics.
 The
original Malankara Church of Kerala was
founded St. Thomas the apostle, and was in
communion with the Catholic church and the
Pope in Rome till 1653
 The
reunion is still under way.
