Teacher answers #1, students answer #2.
Students, you already know how to identify verbs. In a sentence, there is always a verb, or an action,
that takes place. There is always someone or something that does the action, which is called the subject.
A complete sentence uses both a subject and a verb. Today, we will use subjects and verbs to write
complete sentences.

It is important to use subjects and verbs to write
complete sentences because it:
1. helps you write complete sentences correctly.
2. helps you edit your own writing.
Incorrect: The girls. (subject only)
Correct: The girls swam in the pool.
