The subjunctive is used to discuss potential or hypothetical events, or events that are portrayed subjectively. The subjunctive mood contrasts with the indicative mood. The indicative mood presents information as actual, objective facts. There are two clauses in a sentence. When the main clause is a subjunctive expression, the next clause is in the subjunctive form. 2nd clause Main clause Yo ______ que ________. The subjunctive is used when a subjunctive expression is used in the main clause. You can identify these expressions by using the acronym W.E.D.D.I.N.G. The subjunctive can also be used when an incomplete action is the main clause. Incomplete actions describes something that someone was going to do or thinking about doing.
