The real NHS paper explores the issues involved in adopting a responsible marketing approach within the NHS, and what marketing can deliver for the NHS, its ‘customers’, and its many stakeholders. The paper argues that although many may perceive marketing as just ‘spin’ or advertising, it can actually play a far more strategic role within the NHS and help deliver real benefits for both patients and staff. Measure for Measure explores how marketers can ensure they are delivering value for money and making the most of the precious resources they have. Measurement can be used to prove the value of marketing to the NHS as an income earner, cost-saver and valuecreator – not a cost to the system. CIM – developing medical marketers CIM qualifications are recognised worldwide as a badge of professional expertise. Some of the specialist qualifications are of particular interest to the medical sector. Though the majority of delegates on these courses are graduates, entry level is open to most medical marketing executives and managers through their experience or previous qualifications. Specialist pathways for pharmaceutical marketers Cambridge Marketing College has developed specialist pathways for pharmaceutical marketers at two levels: CIM Professional Certificate in Marketing and CIM Professional Diploma in Marketing. Delegates study the same syllabus as our standard CIM qualifications, however the theory is applied to the pharmaceutical sector. Support is provided by a dedicated personal tutor who is a pharmaceutical marketer and by specialist textbooks and online tutorials. The aim is to present delegates with the framework of marketing theory whilst addressing the marketing issues faced in the sector.
