PROGRAMME

Zephyr Street Performing Arts Complex (Z-PAC)
Providing Entertainment and Opportunity
to people of all ages
Z-PAC is a community-based theatre run entirely by volunteers,
producing a number of quality productions each year, using local actors,
directors, technical and support staff. We are always very happy to
welcome new people into our theatre community and invite you to
peruse our website for more information.
In 1964 a group of people who loved theatre formed the Hervey Drama
Circle with Lyn Dahl as the leader at St Joseph’s Parish Centre. In 1968
the group moved into a small theatre in Newhaven Street, Pialba , which
was a renovated army hut. The group then became The Hervey Bay Little
Theatre and began producing full-length plays and running classes for
children.
In 1978 after long and sustained fundraising, Stage One of the Beautiful
Z-PAC Theatre was opened. Stage 2 opened in 1988. Over the years
there were many name changes, and in 1994 the name changed to The
Zephyr Street Performing Arts Community Theatre, known as Z-PAC
Theatre.
Z-Pac is a Registered Not-For-Profit Incorporated Association. It is run
by an elected committee of Volunteers and receives no Government
Funding, aside from the occasional grant. Ticket sales are our main
revenue and we appreciate your support and hope you will continue to
attend and be entertained by our talented actors and enjoy the theatre
experience provided by our friendly support personnel.

FROM THE DIRECTOR
Judith La Forest
Judith’s interest in drama goes back to her
teenage years with a small theatre in Sydney.
Later she acted and participated in several
theatre groups on the N.S.W. Central Coast. At
University she majored in Drama and
Sociology. She has won numerous awards for acting and had a feature role in
The Cat and the Fiddle which won the Short Flicks award for best film in 2001.
Since moving to Hervey Bay in 2003 Judith has directed, acted or directed and
acted in over 15 productions for Z-Pac Theatre – the last one being Arsenic and
Old Lace. She has performed and toured with Stage Rats Theatre Restaurant
Company in two productions and regularly is engaged to act out medical
scenarios for USQ medical student’s assessments.
When choosing a play to direct at Z-PAC to open our major productions for
2016, I looked once more for an engaging comedy. Hence The Odd Couple
sprung to mind.
It is never an easy task to take on a play with more than a few actors. The Odd
Couple has a cast of 8, with varied lives and commitments equating to
rehearsal restraints. Yes, somehow we have managed to pull together an
entertaining piece of theatre. As the theme of friendship is a universal one, I
have transposed this 1970’s play into “the now” with an Australian spin.
Once again, I have been privileged to work with a delightful, talented cast,
from the vastly experienced to the less so. With our wonderful back stage
crew (set building, sound, lighting, stage managing) and Front of House, the
inner Brisbane apartment comes to life. All members have been dedicated to
the excellence of the theatre and I am very appreciative of their contributions.
It is with great pride that we present to you this well-loved Neil Simon play.
Enjoy the journey.

THE CAST
(in Alphabetic Order)
GAVIN BOLDERROW
As Murray
Gavin, Z-PAC Theatre’s Artistic Director, has
been performing for over six years now. He
was last seen in ZPAC's Cosi and the Brolga’s
production of Mary Poppins. His debut in the
region was as the Scarecrow in the Wizard of
Oz.
He has been fortunate enough to experience
many forms of drama, musicals, pantomimes and
even street performing in this culturally rich region; enhancing his repertoire
as a Drama Teacher. Gavin is very proud of many of his students who made
their theatre debut in local productions and being heavily involved in
companies such as Addictive Dramatics.
Jonathan Dunn
As Felix Unger
Jonathan Dunn has appeared on (or in front of) the
Z-PAC stage in many different guises since 1999
when he first performed the role of Roy from Cosi
by Louis Nowra. Since then, Jonathan has directed
and performed in many Z-PAC productions,
including Secret Bridesmaid’s Business, Lost in June,
Romeo and Juliet, Bloke-World, The Crucible, Caravan,
Hamlet, Dad’s Army and Heart. Recently, Jonathan appeared in The Mousetrap
for Z-PAC / Brolga, The Importance of Being Earnest, Down an Alley Filled With
Cats and Summer of the 17th Doll.

LOUISE FANTINEL
As Gwendolyn Pidgeon
Louise has been involved with ZPAC theatre
since 1996 as Teen Theatre director, had a short
stint as Artistic Director and has directed and
acted in productions including A season of One
Act Plays( Where the Cross is Made), All Stops
Out, Abstract Nude and Hoovering on the Edge.
Prior to this, Louise’s theatrical experience occurred in Wollongong, NSW
where she performed for a number of Theatre Companies including, Eureka
Theatre, 1 Theatre South, Workshop Theatre and Powerhouse Productions.
Louise taught Speech and Drama and Voice Production to 100s of students
over many years at Wollongong University’s Conservatorium of Music
preparing students for AMEB exams and Eisteddfod performances. Louise is
currently Secretary for ZPAC where she is able to support the enthusiastic
management committee who contribute tirelessly to planning a yearly
calendar of shows to delight our audiences and fully utilize our lovely little
theatre to its maximum potential.
SHANE KING
As Roy
Shane has been involved in theatre in one form or
another for six years. He started in Stage Rats doing
Dinner Theatre where he enjoyed the close
interaction with the audience. This is also where he
learned to sing from some amazing people within the
Stage Rats group.
He went on to do six shows which travelled around
the Wide Bay area. He has also had the opportunity to perform in The Three
Musketeers at the Brolga and Oliver and Sweeney Todd with Macabre.
This is Shane’s Second Major show with Z-PAC after appearing as a policeman
in Arsenic and Old Lace in 2015. Shane knows you will enjoy the evening and
the talented people within the cast.

LIANE MILLS
As Cecily Pidgeon
Liane has been involved in theatre for many
years, performing in shows at high school
and college before raising a family and
involving her own children in the Theatre
from an early age. Her daughter Rebecca
now runs the successful Fraser Coast Cheer
& Dance school, Dancezone and one of her
sons, Martin performs in Dinner Theatre
shows in Brisbane.
Liane involves herself in many of the theatre groups in the Fraser Coast – the
Brolga Community Theatre, Macabre Theatre, Maryborough Players, Stage
Rats Theatre Restaurant and Z-PAC Theatre where she has appeared most
recently in shows including Calendar Girls, Hoovering on the Edge, Night of
Dark Intent and Cosi. She is loving this fun role with her Pidgeon Sister Louise
and greatly enjoying working with the awesome Director, Judith La Forest, as
well as very talented actors, Jonathan and Mark and the rest of the wonderful
cast and crew.
DAVID PEARCE
Vinnie
David is a newcomer to Hervey Bay. He has featured in
three productions with Z-PAC, over the last few years.
He played the role of the General in One Act of Communication and appeared
again as Sir Humphrey Appleby in Yes Prime Minister and had dual roles in
Arsenic and Old Lace. He has had a theatre history spanning fifty years but in
all that time he has appeared in only ten productions. He claims he has not
yet reached burnout and maybe yet to reach his peak.
P a g e 6 | 16
MARK THOMSON
As Oscar Maddison
Mark has been involved in local theatre since
arriving in Hervey Bay in the ‘80s. He has
performed with an assortment of local theatrical
groups including Maryborough Little Theatre,

Mark has trod the boards in such productions as
Dad’s Army, The Mousetrap, Cosi, and Yes, Prime Minister, as well as Summer
of the 17th Doll in 2015. This role has the most lines he has ever had to learn
and is challenging him but worth it for the laughter it will bring to our
audiences.
ERNIE PAUSSA
As Speed
After almost 10 years in amateur theatre, Ernie
finally plays a character, Speed, who speaks with
an Australian accent. From an Albanian in Tom,
Dick and Harry to an American in Lend Me a
Tenor to an Englishman in Fawlty Towers and
Dad’s Army, he reckons it’s great at last to speak
Strine.

Pirates of Penzance under the direction of Marjolijn
