Roman Religions:
1. Romans were Polytheistic and
worshipped many of the same gods
as the Greeks, but they were given
roman names. Zues=Jupiter,
Poseidon=Neptune. (Hint: If they are
the same name as a planet then it is
a Roman God).
2. Monotheism: Within the Roman
Empire there were Monotheistic
tribes, called Jews. One Jew by the
name of Jesus was thought to be the
son of god and from his followers
began the Christian religion.
Problems that lead to the Fall of Rome:
1. Barbaric attack on the Western
borders by the Germanic Tribes and
the Eastern Borders by the Persians
(and eventually the Huns).
2. Not enough food and money.
3. Disease killed many citizens
Key People:
1. Diocletian: Emperor around 200 C.E.
decided to split the Empire in half in
hopes to make it easier to govern.
2. Constantine: Reunited Rome after
Diocletian; moved capital to
Constantinople.
3. Attila: Leader of the invading Huns.
4. Clovis: First Frank King in Gaul.
5. Goths: Barbarian group that sacked
Rome.
